man up ladies

That’s right…you heard me! Man up! All of us are born with both a masculine and a feminine side. Men and women alike. Both sides have their advantages, and its about time we started using them both.

Our feminine side is what governs our emotions, our thoughts, our feelings. It is what helps us to connect with our hearts and find our true desires and our true purpose in life. Using your feminine side is what will enable you to discover your greatest hopes and dreams. It will even help you come up with a plan to achieve them all. So what happens? Where do we go wrong? Why do most of us get stuck in the same place over and over again despite all our thinking, planning, hoping and dreaming?

As women, many of us get too caught up in the thinking and the planning. We think and think and think and many times, failing to accomplish anything. But how is that possible when we’ve envisioned our perfect life a thousand times? How we feel in it! How we got there! The difference between thinking and doing is tapping into our masculine side, for it is what brings action. This is what one very wise woman told me today.  For the purposes of this blog, we’ll call her “the witch doctor”.

You see, although we’ve thought of everything we want at every angle, the only thing standing between us and our dreams now is acting on them. Our masculine side acts…it makes a decision and it put the wheels in motion. Without action, our dreams will never be more than just dreams. If you are one of the lucky ones who has a vision of what you want your life to be, it is time to take action. The actions don’t need to be a sudden 360 degree changes. Start by making small steps one day at a time. And don’t shy if you hit a few bumps along the way. Keep thinking, planning and acting along the way. When you feel your momentum slipping…think, plan and act some more. You’ll be glad that you did. The more disciplined and determined you are, the closer you will get to achieving your dreams. And keep a diary along the way. It will come in handy in those moments when you think you haven’t accomplished much! Not to mention, give you the confidence you need to spark more and more action.

As you become more comfortable with using your masculine side, your confidence will increase and your actions will become bigger and much more frequent. This inertia will take you places you never thought possible. You may hit a few snags along the way and you may not achieve all of your dreams. But at least you will achieve some of them, and some is always better than none. Besides, nothing is worse than never trying and looking back one day to wonder what could have been if you had.

So make the change! Take action in your life to make it all that it can be! And always remember that without action, dreams will only ever be just dreams!

About the writer

So yes, you've guessed it...I am in the process of getting divorced. Now surely I've had many challenges along the way, but I can honestly say that it has truly been the most eye opening experience of my life. Although it's never what you plan or hope for and it can be truly devastating when you realize it's happening, but it can also have a silver lining if you look for it...once you get through the guilt, anger, self-loathing, several pints of Haagen Dazs and a crate or two of wine of course. My divorce not only got me out of a very unhealthy relationship, but it also opened the door for me to reshape my entire life. So after a year of loafing, I am getting my ass off my couch and into gear to transform everything that I know has not been doing me any justice in my life. I went from trying to be the perfect daughter to trying to be the perfect wife, constantly accepting that which was imposed on me and living my life on auto pilot. Well, all that is about to change. 2012 is finally over and the new year is here, and this will be the year that I change my life and make it what I want it to be. This blog will document my experiences and hopefully help other men and women in the same boat to find some sort of inspiration. I would also like to hear from those of you who have some tips, advice or inspiring stories of your own to share. For many of us, just knowing that there are others who have lived to tell their stories with somewhat of a happy ending, is inspiration enough. Happy New Year!!!
